Whilst our players took a well-earned break over the summer three of our pitches were receiving a well needed refurbishment to help keep them in a good, playable condition.
Both Tarvin Rec and Barrow Village Green were treated to a deep aeration, top dressing and reseeding project to help improve the circulation of oxygen to the roots as well as to help the surface drain swiftly.
Works to our Duddon pitch went much further with a full pitch drainage system being installed. This pitch had previously suffered massively from flooding and was usually unplayable from October through to March. As the pitch slowly recovers, we are already seeing it cope with the recent downpours brilliantly well and once fit to use we are hopeful that matches will be able to go ahead all year round.
